Stylish: A Residential Apartment Design by Yu Cheng Wang

Creating Balance Between Functionality and Aesthetics

This residential planning design project, aptly named Stylish, showcases the impeccable talent of designer Yu Cheng Wang. With a focus on achieving the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics, Wang has created a living space that is both visually stunning and highly practical.

Stylish stands out from other residential apartments with its unique use of fashionable black, white, and grey colors in the public spaces. Metallic elements are strategically incorporated to highlight the modern quality of the design. The private spaces, on the other hand, have been tailored to meet the specific needs of the owner while maintaining a stylish aesthetic.

The design of the foyer utilizes virtual volume segmentation to preserve light penetrability, creating an inviting entrance. As one moves further into the apartment, the interior transitions from a grey tone to a bold black color, clearly distinguishing the border between the rest area and the work area. The second floor, designed as the lounge and dining room, takes advantage of the high floor height and elongates the axis through the use of light grooves. The continuous transitions of the linear light belt add visual depth and create a three-dimensional effect.

With a total area of 173.5 square meters, Stylish offers ample space for comfortable living. The attention to detail and thoughtful design choices are evident throughout the apartment, making it a truly exceptional living space.

In the private spaces, Wang has carefully considered the needs and preferences of the owner. The female owner's bedroom and the two secondary bedrooms feature soothing grey Morandi colors, creating a calming atmosphere. Soft materials such as chiffon, silk, and coral red textiles add layers and texture to the space. Customized spray-painting techniques have been used to create a refreshing and inviting rest area.

The male owner's room, on the other hand, exudes a strong personality. The mellow texture of architectural concrete sets the spatial tone, while metallic materials with a titanium-plated hairline finish add a touch of luxury and highlight the owner's individuality.

Stylish is a testament to the designer's meticulous research and attention to detail. The use of materials, colors, and textures creates a harmonious and visually striking living space.

Completed in May 2019, Stylish is located in Taichung City, Taiwan. It has garnered recognition and acclaim, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity and ingenuity, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
